Think about it, Our economy is in the tank. Our country has not seen a jobless drought like this since 1922. If you could go back in your mind and think about any time you can remember that we as a nation was hurting for jobs like this. Most of us can’t…This is the worst it has been. The other thing that is boggling my mind is that the Baby Boomers are in the heart of this!
Although only 8% of Baby Boomers who have taken a domestic vacation in the last 12 months or a foreign vacation in the last 24 months report interest in taking an ethical vacation (e.g., volunteer work), it’s possible that the notion of traveling and volunteering time for charitable causes could be positioned to better appeal to some Baby Boomer vacationers.
Perhaps most compelling is that 16% of Baby Boomers who have taken a domestic vacation in the last year or a foreign vacation in the last two years report seeing/experiencing something that disturbed them while vacationing, such as poverty or beach erosion. This represents an angle that voluntourism companies could leverage to persuade some Boomer vacationers to put in time volunteering, especially if these travelers don’t have to commit their entire trip to the cause, as relaxation remains the top priority for Baby Boomer respondents. Volunteering vacationers can often choose the amount of time they wish to dedicate to helping out, according to Travelocity’s Travel for Good website. Indeed, limiting the number of days volunteering would likely appeal to the Baby Boomer tendency to create unique, unscripted itineraries.
There is a concern of all the above but what about the 84% that didn’nt even get a vacation, or time to be with family? Is it perhaps No job, No money, No time? Take any of these and your wondering what life is all about? Let’s change gears and talk about the future.
The Internet is growing at an amazing 15% a year and shows no sign of ever slowing down. Let’s take a quick look at this thing called the Internet. Ten years ago ( 2001 ) yeah..Can you believe it! Okay we had cell phones…barely and the Internet was here but what exactly did we use it for? Hmmm. Well we used it primarily to research things. It was good for seeing pictures and reading articles. Mostly at this time other than a word processor it was used for Data. Now in 2011 we do everything on the net, Yes everything. I can go into what all that this marvel can do but I bet by now you have some idea what it can do for you but did you think that it can make you a lot of money? Yep, You see everything is going to the Internet and there are litterally billions being spent everyday on the Internet. Yes there are Work at Home businessesthat you can learn and take those vacations that you are now missing. Or the this Internet can give you a job…Hmmm How about that.
